Frequently asked questions

  • Your treatment time will vary substantially depending on the amount of movements required. For mild cases it may be as little as 6 months, for more severe cases it may take up to 2 years.

  • No. When using Invisalign aligners there is very minimal discomfort, each new aligner will feel tight on the day it is placed but after 1 day this usually subsides and you may forget you are even wearing them.

Fixed orthodontics is often more uncomfortable for the first few weeks as your mouth adapts to the components which can result in ulcers however after the first 2-4 weeks most patients find they can function normally with the brace.

  • The cost of your treatment plan will vary depending on the type of treatment and whether just upper/lower or both jaws are treated, but in general fixed orthodontics will start from £1495 and Invisalign treatment starts from £1995, with finance options available through the practice.

  • If your treatment is using Invisalign aligners then you can remove these to eat and drink and as such your diet is not affected at all.

If you treatment is using fixed orthodontics we generally recommend that you avoid sharp or sticky foods to prevent damage to the brace of food becoming stuck in it.

  • If your treatment involves Invisalign aligners then it will be almost invisible with only a thin, clear plastic aligner over the teeth.

If your treatment involves fixed braces then usually the components of these will be tooth coloured and as such will be fairly discrete however you are likely to notice it close up.
